Plan A, B or C (English Version) Episode 1
They were going to send students to different places, and one of them was Guatemala; I was like: "Yes!!! I'm the only girl who speaks Spanish, so I'm definitely going". Instead, I was sent to NYC. Of course, I was upset, but God was working with my character. I knew He was building a servant's heart, and in NYC, I started working in a children's ministry and with the homeless program. When I graduated, it was time to decide whether to stay in the United States or go back home to Puerto Rico.
I said to God that I wanted to use my hands to show the love of Christ through them, and that's when I felt like going back home and studying to become a nurse. During the second week of university, I received a call from the school of ministry asking me if I wanted to go to Guatemala since they needed a staff there. What!? This was my opportunity, but guess what? I said no, and repeated the exact words I told God; I want to prepare myself to show the love of Christ through my hands by providing health and helping others.
I got my bachelor's degree, and after that, I took a different path, thinking it was the best for me and trying to survive in this world to make money and be happy. But on February 9th, 2023, I got a call the same day I was going to an interview for a hospital in Florida. I never thought this call was going to change everything. On February 15, I flew to Hornell, NY, to help around and meet the team that I was going with to Guatemala. On March 3rd, the Team flew to Guatemala to conduct health fairs and provide medical services. We did four health fairs in a week! Wow, what an experience! I'm going to tell you all about it in my next blog.
We had a bonfire on the last day we spent at the Xejuyu property. The team shared their last experience, and the Pastor in charge asked if anyone else wanted to say something before we finished the activity. Suddenly an 8-year-old girl stood up and said: “I want to say something” and everyone was quietly waiting. I look at her, and she says: “ I want to thank you all for letting God use your hands to heal others and show his love.” I'm paraphrasing what she said, but all I know is that I got a flashback from the day I told God I was going home to become a nurse to prepare my hands to share the love of Christ through them. Of course, I started crying like crazy because I knew it wasn't her speaking; it was God confirming why I was there at that time.
Us, we have many plans, and they are good plans, but when we leave those plans to God, he will always direct us to plan A, no matter how long it takes, because we might be trying plan B or C. But God has everything organized. We just have to stop momentarily, listen and, of course, BE PATIENT 😂.
